The Acorns International University Project

A proposed private university being developed in Uganda by the promoters of Acorns International Schools.

For thirty years, Acorns International Schools has educated young people across East Africa, with campuses in Uganda and Rwanda. The promoters have now begun work on the next stage of that commitment: the development of a proposed private university in Uganda.

Establishing a university in Uganda is a staged process regulated by the National Council for Higher Education under the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act (Cap. 262). The promoters are at the first of those stages, awaiting feedback from NCHE regarding their application for a Letter of Interim Authority.

A Letter of Interim Authority permits promoters to mobilise resources, acquire and develop land and facilities, and build academic and administrative capacity. It does not permit the admission or teaching of students.

The proposed university will admit its first students only after the National Council for Higher Education has granted the licences the law requires.

The project team does not respond to admission, application or scholarship enquiries, as none are open.
